Are rental trucks required to stop at weigh stations?

I have a friend that is moving from Wisconsin to Illinois and he would like to know if rental trucks such as U-haul trucks are required to stop at weigh stations? Please let me know thank you.

I am a truck driver and know dot laws. Yes u have to stop at weigh stations and u are subjected to the gross vehicle weight. So make sure that your not over the legal weight limit for the truck. The fines are and can be steep.

They are in California. They will tell you when you rent the truck if you remember to ask.

    no

rental trucks in non commercial service are not required to stop at truck stops.. we moved from KS to Wa in the biggest U haul truck pulling a car trailer and never stopped any truck scale.

    hope this helps

Not unless the sign at the weigh station says all trucks over 5 tons.

And by the way redneck the truck driver doesn’t know as much as he thinks he does.
