I'd say he deserves no money at all. Uninsured motorists are no better than litter on the road! What if he had hit that truck? How much would he be willing to pay them?

It’s called "contributory negligence", meaning that the insurance company has decided both drivers are partially responsible for the collision.

Why doesn’t your boyfriend have insurance? He shouldn’t have even been on the road, and that may be the issue here.

They are doing what many insurance companies do. Trying to weasel out of paying a claim in part because they know he has no insurance to go to bat for him and they also know that he will have to hire a lawyer to get for him what he deserves.

They have assigned him 30% of the blame for speeding and perhaps for being uninsured. Under TX law, established in 2005, he would have been required to show his insurance card at the time of the accident. If he couldn't, he would have been ticketed. Be happy the other insurance is only dropping it by 30%.
